Copying old Chubb RKS keys onto new RKS blanks

Recommended Posts

I have started to experimentally make these from photos, and, oh dear, it is fraught. A comparatively high failure makes the successful decodes relatively expensive. The blanks are already £3.50 each.

Here I have one I made that didn't work. The client then sent his original, but I am finding it hard to copy this with the Lancer, as the blanks do not clamp identically in the 2 jaws. Due to the unusual shoulder, making these with the Keyline mortice machine is also rather awkward.

I would welcome a little chat here about this.
