actionman
Hi i've been using Abrites AVDI for the majority of my VAG keys which is 99% just spare keys. Rarely seem to do lost key jobs. Anyway i've had a few phone up lately with NEC & Micronas clusters such as mk6 Golf & facelift 8p A3. I've had to turn them away as i haven't got any eeprom tools to read the clusters when there's no working key. I've emailed a couple of companies but they just seem to be trying to push me to buy all sorts of other kit. Some haven't even replied & i emailed them several days ago. Basically i've looked at Xprog-m, Tango, Orange 5 & Codex. Can anyone give me any advice on which would be the best all round tool to use with my AVDI for doing lost keys on NEC & Micronas clusters? thanks Craig
decker
on the VAG eeprom you mention, all you need to buy to be able to complete the jobs on lost keys is a reader, the AVDI tag tool does the rest of the job. The most common and in my opinion best and user friendly reader is Orange 5. To make life easier on the Golf mk6 VDO NEC cluster you should buy or make yourself a rig to be able to complete the job on the bench. If you wanted to expand further than VAG eeprom then you would need Tango or miraclone or other similar device that recognises the dump that has been read and place keys in dump. AVDI tag tool does this but is not as good as Tango or miraclone. lockdecoders
actionman
Ok thanks for the replies. Someone has pm'd me & kindly offered for me to pop round & have a look at the equipment he uses. He's got a NEC cluster so can show me through the process

It is the 5K chassis with the UDS cluster. Would AVDI have done a spare for this through the OBD? AD say that they have only cracked a few of the algoritihms. lockdecoders
I dont see why it shouldnt. SuperVag does. decker

No problem at all with AVDI, Remember that AVDI is the worlds leader on VAG and is generaly about 4 years more advanced than advanced diagnostics. lockdecoders
decker
Never seen anything other than VDO NEC dash in Golf 6 and ive done a few. AVDI has never let me down on these. Not seem MM7 dash so would not know if AVDI would do it. The only other question mark on what system it would be was the year 2009 which could be MK5 or MK6 but Simes said it was MK6. Auto Key Wizard
2009 Golf 6 - MVP couldn't do. 5K chassis with the UDS cluster. Would AVDI have done a spare for this through the OBD? As derrick states, Yes AVDI can do this for additional key or all lost, (If no valid key the cluster would need coding on the bench). If 'all keys lost' Simon, mail me the cluster and I'll add a transponder or full remote key for you. decker
Auto Key Wizard
Warren, What's the VRM, and get an image of the vehicle... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Golf Also what is the cluster part number?

Would AVDI have done a spare for this through the OBD? AD say that they have only cracked a few of the algoritihms. my AVDI V25 is yet to fail on doing spare keys for mk6 Golf & I've done quite a few since getting AVDI Last year. Also done quite a few other VAG from 2009 onwards such at Transporter T5.1, mk5 Ibiza, facelift mk2 Leon, facelift mk2 Octavia & they've all been spot on with spare keys. Usually done them quicker than the customer could bring me a brew out! It's the lost key thing i really need to sort out. I've now got an NEC cluster bench rig & picked up some NEC clocks today. I now just need to decide what i'm going to do about which eeprom equipment to go for. My heads still spinning with the options in that department Simes
Auto Key Wizard
Purchase Orange-5, (and recommend ImmoHPX) you'll like it so much you'll get Tango to keep it company. actionman and decker
Auto Key Wizard
Warren I do believe.... but very intrigued. Okay, IPC - 5K0 920 960 is for Golf MK6 DTI model, but I've never seen the PCB image you sent me, fitted to one!! Not seen Magneti Marelli on MK6 either. lockdecoders
I have never seen mm on a golf 6, but you never know as this is VW we are talking about. Should have Nec, but if they run out then they will take a reprogrammable unit which could be a MM and code it up and that is why it is so difficult to do key programming for them. Also seen exactly what Warren has seen in that we had a 1K which is Golf 5, but the car was actually a Golf 6. With UDS Nec cluster. Did this have Micronas in it? Does it have the black plug or the blue plug on the back? decker
