Lee
thought i'd show you this! My customer wanted an extended Rim lock key. There wasn't one to suit in my catalogues so I made one. first i used two blanks & cut the opposite ends off next I did a step in the cut to add strength when welding & it makes it easier to line up. then I "V"d the joints to allow the welds to be cleaned up afterwards. I took it home & welded it together before bringing it back to work the next day to grind & wet & dry smooth. Next up masked & ready for painting, since these are plated steel it would have gone rusty without. Finished key............. Customers ordered 2 more. you don't get that sort of service in a heel bar do you! Lee

Kris Polan
Nice job. I recommend making two pieces - one for the supply of blank ... With a small cost of time and money. Then it is easier, faster ... and the customer happy. K.
Lee
With a small cost of time and money. I ain't embarrassed about profit. He didn't pay me small he paided me handsomely to do a job out of hours. it was a pound for doing the job and a fair sum for knowing how to do the job. He'd already been to a few places before he heard about me. He'd already fitted a door for his customer & his customer had insisted on the original lock. he'd done the work before he realised he couldn't get keys for it. he was truly up a creak without a paddle & he paid a price that we where both happy with. x minit uk
Lee, I won shoe repairer of the year whilst working in a 'heel bar' before you knew how to tie laces. And in those days you had to pass a mystery shopper report to qualify which included giving outstanding service. So not so quick on the heel bar criticism please. Apart from that well done on a good job.

I bet you could walk into a 1000 shoe repairers / heel bars in the UK & only find 1 or 2 who could extend or would be bothered to extend a Rim lock key, it wasn't a criticisum of Mr Minit or anyone who worked in them. I was more thinking of "you wouldn't get that anywhere else locally" sorry if it offended!
