Dean
Just out of interest.... Could somebody who has used both please explain why vistool is supposed to be so much better. We use Gravostyle and Gravostyle only and fly through the engraving most days. Never have to turn a job away due to Software issues....or is it just an inferiority complex from the vistool brigade? Dean
Or have I become an institutionalised Gravo Guru?
hibsjo(SCO)
i think thay they are so happy that it works for the money that they have this cosy lovey dovey warm glowing feeling about themselves that they didnt pay as much as we did for our machines/software. just my views not that of the institutionalised if we are to have a debate/discussion can we refrain from "slagging" the "other" side off carry on! Dean
For example, I don't think there has been a logo that I haven't been able to conquer with gravo... What can Vistool do that Gravo can't?

In all fairness Gravograph the company are a totally different animal than the Vistool/U-marq lot, you don't get to be the market leader unless you know your onions. And Gravo are by far the market leader
hibsjo(SCO)
but does that make them the best? Anytime ive dealt with trotec ive been really impressed with their service, something i feel Gravo have let slip of late(my experience) machines are pretty bullet proof but do go wrong, so as Dean says what does vistool do that we cant? carry on! StevenB
I have a feeling that this discussion is a bit like asking "What does a Vauxhall Insignia do that a Ford Mondeo can't" In that they both do the same thing, each has their own idiosyncrasies, and each has their own following. So my answer is that Vistool probably does nothing hugely different from gravo, they are both very capable types of software. From my perspective, the fact that vistool operates using all the regular windows keyboard shortcuts makes a huge difference in the day to day usability. From what I've seen, the vectorising side of gravo software looks like it works quite well, (probably due to the global market Gravo have & the corresponding R&D budget they would be able to put into this). Sometimes I like to tweak an image in photoshop to optimise it prior to importing it into vistool, but it's all about the end result, not necessarily how you get there & as with anything, it's about learning these little tricks to get the best out of your machine. keithm
I think it's a lot to do with your background and where and who you've worked for and what machine you cut your teeth on . It's much the same with repair equpment, Power, Whitfield, Hardo? If you have a Timpson background you are likely to buy Whitfield/Standard and Gravograph If you have worked in the independant trade, it may well be the same, but you may see different preferences I think
