29K72 Replacement

Recommended Posts

It is a far eastern copy, but one that Standard are happy to sell, so the quality is fine, and at the price, it's a steal.

Perhaps Keith could confirm about parts - though so far, I can't see what you'd need to replace except the odd needle...

Every repairer should be replacing their tired, erratic old 29K with one of these.

I bought mine last summer & it's been a delight to be able to stitch reliably again after years of dodgy tension, missed stitches & general stitching-based frustration!

I was talking to someone else today who said Timpson in Perth has one????????

If you've used a 29k you've used one of these, difference is its tighter, more precise & more positive to the touch.

CLAES. No comparison, if you want a machine that is tried tested and performs perfect look no further.

SINGER. Original with Original parts.. great.

Singer parts copied Japan.. great

Singer parts copied in China.. not so good to put it mildly.

Singer parts sourced from China but sub contected to Tiawan...bit worse than China.

Singer copied in India.. not copied the current model.

Singer full machine copied in China.. OK as long as you keep to the Chinese parts and dont use the parts from the original singer from years ago. This machine in my opinion is OK for odd jobs but if you want a machine for continual use in Surgical etc then CLAES or ADLER is the better option with CLAES coming out tops.

Please bear in mind that this is my personal opinion.

Things can only get better as the song goes.

If I was starting out again I would be geared to the remedial side of the business in a big way and the best Patcher would be at the heart of that work. A few odd jobs would not warrant the expenditure and I would therefore be quite happy with a New Copy Singer with a good guarantee and back up service that I'm sure "Standard" would supply.

If I'm still around in 10 years time I would be very interested in the development of these machines and what has changed.
