sleutel
Hi, I got in a lock for a Mitsubishi today without a key. The customer could not tell the type of car it was for, just a year of make: 1996. On the barrel is stamped 441-0X61 and 31644. Tried to look it up in instacode but i´m not sure wich code to use and i can´t take the lock apart. Anybody any experience with these? Auto Key Wizard
Yes, Which keyway is it, at a guess I'd say Silca MIT11R & the Key Code is 31644 Bitting = 32143234 If Silca MIT8 ignition needs to be picked before it can be disassembled, pretty straight forward to originate keys for. sleutel
Tel200 thanks for your reply! It wasn't MIT11R but it is MIT8. I found out the lock originates from an L300. I have picked the lock that was easy but do you have to drill the pin to get the lock out?
Auto Key Wizard
Mitsubishi L300 uses MIT8 & Series E5001-E7679 So 441-0X61 and 31644 stamped on barrel is of no relevance to key code I'll take a look at the one I have at the workshop & reply later

Auto Key Wizard
Sleutel, To remove the plug from the barrel the lock needs picking to the ACC position, the plug pushes in when turned. When this has been achieved remove the circlip from the back of the plug & withdraw the plug from the front of the barrel. Insert blank Silca MIT8 & read wafers for bitting, 8 cut & 4 depths Use Silca card 264 & HPC CW-47MC cutter if using Blitz, & produce a key The rest is history... As a side note: There will be a key number on door lock & prefixed "E" XXXX.
sleutel
Again, thank you Tel200! But the problem is, i don´t get it out of the housing. I removed the pin in top of the lock picked the lock to ACC position but still no luck. There is no other pin or whatever that can be removed or pushed in. I have attached two pictures to give an idea.
Auto Key Wizard
I think it would be easier to get key number from door/trunk lock or if no number make key to door/trunk lock.
grahamparker
The front of the housing around the cylinder is possibly held in place by the neck of the barrel having been rolled over trapping the front cover or it has 2 rivets passing through which hold it all together. If it is held with rivets grind the back of the rivet away and punch the front cover of, the barrel will then be removable. once you have made a key you should be able to superglue the remainder of the rivets back in place, not ideal but it works. I personally would follow tels suggestion and strip a door lock from the vehicle as the key code should be on the drivers door lock,if not you can strip the lock down a lot easier than the ignition. I have used the first option quite a few times when the ignition lock had been changed and didn't match the door locks.
Auto Key Wizard
Thanks Graham, I didn't recognise the ignition housing in the image so couldn't help much more.
sleutel
Tel and Graham, thanks for your help. Doorlocks keyed alike weren't available, not even an gascap, all changed. So the only solution was like said grinding and superglue.. Solved!
