StevenB
I now have my fine new patcher click here for details of how you can get one and would appreciate advice on the best needle / thread combinations to use. I currently use 50g thread & number 120/19 needles. Am I correct in thinking that the thickness of thread & needle need to be matched in order to stitch correctly, and if so, what are the magic combinations, other than what I'm using? All advice welcomed!
Gray
I don't think it makes any difference Steve, I have never had any problems with any needle/thread combinations. As long as you set your thread tensions correctly all will be well. Lee
I use your combination, but I also run the very fine silko polyester threads (not sure on the weight, but VERY fine) for fine light stitching like most uppers have. for this I use 100/16's & even have a rare packet of 80/12 which make a very fine stitch hole. the size of needed will make no difference to whether the machine will stitch or not, but the shorter the stitch needed the finer the needle & subsequent hole will need to be. StevenB
where do you get the smaller needles, from a normal trade supplier, or elsewhere?
petercoulson
You might find you get a better stitch if you lubricate the needles with brown sauce before working although this could be expensive
