kobblers
Hi peeps. I've just bought a 52 reg Nissan Almera Tino but it only has one key with it. What's the procedure for a spare as the handbook says whoever cuts it will need the metal tag with the code on but I don't have it What's a good price to be paying for these? Rick. ponsaloti
What's a good price to be paying for these? £85 would be a good price for me if you were buying from me. We charge between £40 & £50 for these dependant on chip used.
redcap
What's the procedure for a spare as the handbook says whoever cuts it will need the metal tag with the code on but I don't have it Manufacturers handbook says that you need the metal tag so you have to go back to the manufacturer.... Rubbish. The real proceedure (with an existing key) is; take it to any good locksmith who will glance at your key and tell you what the bitting is. He will then cut a shiney new one and clone the chip.... job done.
kobblers
Cheers Redcap What's the average price so I ain't getting my arm taken off? Rick.
Lee
you want to check how much your charging for these ponsaloti the trade price of the remote & blade are more than that! you can clone this on a tpx2 Rick, if you don't want a remote. Check your car opens & starts with just the blade first though, it would be annoying using the spare if the alarm goes off every time you use it. Find someone local with an AD900 or Keycrypt pro & they will sort out a key only. Lee

ponsaloti
Lee the question was how much for a spare key, no mention of a remote. £30 to £50 for a cloned key.
Craig Gardner
Lee the question was how much for a spare key, no mention of a remote.£30 to £50 for a cloned key. cloned key no use as you need remote on these or the alarm will scream and a tpx2 which it would clone onto will not fit original remote blade craig
kobblers
Probably an obvious question to those of you in the know but why is the remote essential? The button on the one I have is temperamental so I use the key to unlock it for now. Doesn't unlocking it disarm the alarm? Cheers, Rick.

Craig Gardner
Rick. unclip the remote from the blade the blade has the chip in it keep the remote far away and lock the car wait 5 minutes the unlock the car with just the blade and the alarm should go off unless a previous owner has disconected the siren due to remote problems if alarm sounds it should stop as soon as you start the car if no alarm then you could just clone but the alarm should sound. craig
Lee
That don't find logic in my brain Craig, your saying take the romote well away from the car so the car doesn't know its there & then the alarm will go off. Does the system send out a signal when you insert the key to find a remote, even if it isn't used to open the car? Lee
redcap
Does the system send out a signal when you insert the key to find a remote, even if it isn't used to open the car? No... if it unlocks manually and there's no alarm - then no is remote required. No need to start removing blades! You should not need to use a remote with any of the Nissans of that sort of age (that I know of).
ponsaloti
I ask the customer if they want a spare with a remote or without. I tell them the differance in price and ask them if they they can get in and start the car without a remote. If the answer is yes then the price for a spare key for this nissan will be between £30 and £50 dependant on the chip.
StevenB
And this is why I'm currently sticking to my bianchi 883 transponder programmer. All the fine people above are unable to agree as to what the right answer is, with much more experience than I've got. Is there anybody that offers comprehensive training in this, along with regular updates? It's something where the technology seems to progress so quickly, what you learnt last year is out of date & unless you can keep on top of it, you soon get behind. Getting the correct information for what key blank is required, what to charge etc. during the brief window of opportunity while the customer is in the shop is difficult enough, and that's before you get to the issue of price... kobblers
I've cut a spare for the doors for now and it unlocks and locks the car no prob, even when the original key is in the house. Maybe the alarm has been disconnected as it didn't go off. Rick.
Davy
Cars are never straight forward. You will find a few cars even with an alarm fitted will open on a standard key and as long as you start the vehicle with a recognisable transponder the alarm will be deactivated before the alarm goes off. A lot of Fords for example if locked on the remote will allow you about 20 seconds to start the vehicle before the alarm goes off using a standard key. ponsaloti
The street KA (convertable KA) has a remote but the vast number of UK KA'S were built without this, only as an option. Lady in last week, I asked all the relivant questions only to have her come back 2 days later to say she cant get into the boot of her street KA (not KA) with the key I sold her. No lock on the StreetKa so remote is needed. Told her she said it was a KA, no mention of a Convertable. She left happy after some schoomzing from a good looking fat bald italian bastard. Davy
Never tried but I wonder if you can turn the key twice in the door lock and the boot can be opened in case the remote goes down.
