tommy
Hi Guys, Could someone please tell me if I am missing a circlip or spacer from the gap at the top of the black bit above the blade? As you can see there is daylight and this is the amount of play i have on the blade, which you can imagine is a pain in the proverbial. Does anybody know where i can get a replacement. The machine has no name but has on the top +-x and divide symbols. Thanks Paul

tommy
Mine is similar, probably older, it has a more rounded top and no handle on the left. Cheers Paul

Lee
I did lift the lid off & noticed some allen headed bolts at the top of the cutter shaft. I didn't undo them but would question whether the play is through these needing adjusting. bits don't just go missing, its either a worn bearing (unlikely given how long key machines last) or movement (most likely) in the existing parts. if you take a picture from inside the lid, I'll compare with mine to see if anythings different. petercoulson
dont know about these machines but a few points to look for: that black cutter holding boss attaches to the shaft somehow, have a look and see how this may be where the problem is. alternatively how is the shaft held in the bearings? how is the shaft driven? direct to a motor or by belt, either way it may have a grub screw here that has slipped (on the motor or a pulley)

tommy
Thanks Lee, what do you think? Cheers Paul
petercoulson
my first thought would be to take the motor belt off and see how the pulley is attached to the shaft holding the cutter, probably 1 or 2 grub screws under the belt. lossen these and see if the shaft will push up then tighten again.
