Lee
I've read in a few topics about putting a "dot" at the beginning of engraving on a cylindrical item for lining up. How does this work, how do you do it & why do you do it? Lee
k4mrc
it is to make easier the lining up of a job, i sometimes do it on say an item where there is little space to put a line of text! the idea is the dot is the first thing the comptuer engraves, you then line the dot at the left hand side just below the upper line so you know you have the correct space and line up. then when the diamond goes to the start of say 2008 - perfectly lined up to engrave! otherwise you have to dummy obove the material to make sure you are in the right place engraving by colour makes this easier - the dot would be say black and text blue. then you would find it slightly quicker. i hope that makes sense! if not i would be happy to talk you thru it.
