Recommended Posts

Hi

I am thinking of upgrageding my finnisher soon

what machine offers the best suction?

what machine offers the best dust filtration?

what do think is the best alround value?

Thanks Bonus

the 700 or the new 710 seems to be a favourite but i dont realy like them i suppose it also comes down to what you are used to i have a hardo and a lynx i love the lynx i got one 11 months ago from standard with a tiger press and a bench fully refurbed not cheap but what a machine well worth it the best extraction i have ever had on a machine.and a very practical layout.only down side on the lynx is the size but if you have the space i would recomend it.here is a link to a picture of mine on the forum

not coward surely if anything brave, If i was asking this question I would expect 100% bias from salesman and ignore the comments, I prefer word of mouth on such things - it works better than hard sell most of the time. I know which machines should be better than others but shoe repairers have different views and live in the real world. we sell a large range of machines and they all sell well.

we win some we lose some que sera sera no sleep lost.

ps. i do believe ours are best

Ok, feel free to ignore though.

our refurbished finishers and units are stripped completely, shells are sandblasted and then resprayed to your requirements. all bearings/cutters/wearing items are replaced new with genuine parts where possible. any other parts we make or sub out for manufacture - goodyear parts for instance are now made by us, guides, clamps, tables etc etc. we will refurb most makes depending on what we feel we can achieve with what we start with so we wont touch most old machines or problem ones like lavaredo, hess, mebus etc. we believe we do the best re-engineering of a machine and back this up with up to a 12 month warranty. all new machines have a 12 month guarantee but we sometimes extend this depending on the problem - we have repaired an 18 month old machine that developed a problem that shouldnt happen for some years.

as for what is best, second hand wise you cannot really go wrong with refurbed power machines, they are very strong and have good extraction and a proven track record. we have a source that supplies parts from the original supplier and this helps particularly with dust bags. older whb 700s are also very popular and a good machine for the money. standard lynxes although not so readily available also sell well.

new wise, we looked at several suppliers before deciding to take up with HARDO, their range is second to none and has oft been copied (you may notice the similarity between the 115 and another uk made machine). the starting range called the ideal has excellent dust extraction and lower noise when being used. the tin work is of a stronger guage than most and this is reflected in the weight and lack of vibration. also there are many accessories available for the range - see http://www.hardo.eu for further info. If you are looking for something special they also custom make seperate extraction systems designed specially for the ortho market and are renowned and sold throughout the world and have won manufacturing awards in germany.

Bonus, a fair response from Peter in a difficult situation and our process is the same in most instances. But, I would like to add the following:

At Standard Engineering, we offer a complete range of shoe repair machinery, manufactured in Kettering, including, presses, finishers, benches, light units etc. Stnadard have led the Industry for many years and we intend to continue with that success.

Our website is the most comprehensive we know of and compliments our sales efforts on a daily basis. It is full of relevant detail about most machinery available, with a parts lists, dimensions, weights and power supplies in order to assist the customer. If you haven’t visited it recently, I would strongly advise you to do so.

www.standardgroup.co.uk

Often, because of our manufacturing capability, we will offer a complete bespoke system for our customer. We can design a system that will fit where others may not and in some cases, end up supplying more than they originally thought they required as they have reviewed their way of working the dimensions allocated to shoe repairing !

Our range compliments the ‘contemporary shoe repairer and has been the best selling machinery in the UK for at least the last 60 years. The reasons for this will be many, but most find the combination of durability, parts availability, ease of use, size and price, an unbeatable package. Backed up by a nationwide service team, most issues that arise will be dealt with within 48 hours or less.

Whether the machine is Whitfield, Standard, Power, Hardo, K&B or any other, we supply most parts where possible and manufacture where we can. This is achieved via our CNC machining plant that supports our assembly process.

Most customers will have their preferences depending on the machinery they have used in the past. For instance, Power customers believe that they are the best machines available, whilst someone who has used a 700 or Lynx or Hardo throughout their career think the same about there’s. It all comes down to a matter of choice. For example, when I was repairing, I preferred a 700, because it was available in single phase, easy to work on and had plenty of room around the tooling. That can’t be said of a Power Unit for example!

We normally and currently, have a good range of machines in stock for refurbishing, supplemented by our New range. There can be relatively little in price between the two sometimes, so it’s always best to discuss your options fully.

However, I will say, that the 700 range of machines is tried and tested. In excess of 2000 are being used throughout the world and have proved to be reliable workhorses that rarely let you down. As we make most of the parts ourselves, we have no quality, supply or price fluctuations to deal with as we’re in complete control of them. In fact, the latest 710 finisher is currently being made in larger quantities than any 700 models before it!!

With regard to R&D, we have made great strides in recent months with regard to extraction and noise control. I’m sure, in the near future, we can bring machines to the market that will exceed the performance of most machines made in the UK or Europe previously, at very competitive prices. In fact, with the strong Euro, our machines are currently the best value for money out there with a quality British tag attached to it.

As almost every customer has a different set of criteria, it’s always best to look at their premises, where possible, and, if need be, take a visit to our factory, if you have time, to finalise your plans. Remember, you only buy a machine every 8-10 years on average, so it’s sensible to get it right first time.

All customers that have toured our factory end up with a completely different impression once they have been around, much to my satisfaction as we have spent some time building the Company to what it is and are always looking at ways of improving our service via customer feedback.

We treat every enquiry the same and believe that our knowledge within the trade on all machinery is second to none.

I look forward to receiving your enquiry :D

Keith
