Sublimation

Recommended Posts

if ya get a laser sublimation printer you can sublimate your leather soles with your logo

seriously, i'm gonna have a look into the laser side as you don't have to use transfer paper, you can use normal paper to transfer your images and it seems to be cheaper per print.

i'll be taking orders for personalised soles anytime soon

i looked at the laser way with a oki printer and normal oki toner but spcial sub paper but the press times are increased and i dont like the finish. the laser way leaves a rough textured finish on mugs it feels like a transfer and on t shirts it cracks quick and gives a poor finish.the upside is you can press onto dark items even black t shirts as it lays the image over the top. unlike the sub dye which during the heat process turns into a gas and is obsorbed onto the item. but unlike the dye way with the lazer you can press anything ie cheap mugs customers own items as they do not have to be coated.and the laser way is best for pressing colour logos onto porus materials like slices of bark house signs once varnished the finish is great.

Never tried a leather sole i did put a few pairs in my laser engraver and they looked ok but i just leave them as they come in now.

really craig? :?

maybe it's the printer or toner you tried? i looked at this site here: http://colourmagic.info/laser.htm which seems to offer a perfect finish on items, it's a different printer altogether.

i am still not convinced laser is the way forward have you had a finished item in your hand done on a laser. i have poped a dlack t shirt with full colour printin the post to you to see what you think of the quality.

Craig,

Have I read it right, are you using a regular toner in the Oki printer? Have you used any sort of sublimation toner in a laser printer? I didn't know you could use regular toner for sublimation.

i never bought the system but it was demonstrated to me and i will need to check now but i am positive it was special laser sub paper but the standard oki toner. yes i am correct you need to use a oki laser printer they now recomend the c3400 which i already have and special paper at £35 per 100 sheets plus vat from novachrome. here are the press details http://www.novachrome.co.uk/cms_images/ ... _Guide.pdf i was told at the trophex show this year that you needed the oki 5000 series printer and i only had a 3000 seriesprinter so never bothered. now i see you can use the 3000 series printer so i am ordering the paper today so i will test it myself when it arrives. The sample i sent to rick was done at the show.

well the special paper has arrived and i have tried it out on the oki laser and am still not impressed it is all down to perfect timming. i would normaly press a mouse mat for 90 seconds and and 10 seconds to long not a problem with the laser you only need to press for 3 seconds yes 3 seconds. i found 4 seconds was to long and paper stuck to it. not as nice a finish but much quicker.
