kobblers
this is a question for those of you with computer engravers: when you're cutting something out, say like a brass shape, do you use a sacrificial substrate under your material to prevent damage to your cutter? Does cardboard count as sacrificial substrate if so Yes
ANDY
I would stick the brass onto a bit of scrap with self adhesive. this prevents it popping out on the last pass, and breaking your cutter. then i pour thinners on the job at the end. this releases the brass easily without having to pry it off. Guest AndrewJ
I use ABS sheet with the brass stuck to this with a low tack tape if the cut out is not to fly off. One sheet of this at about £10 lasts me a long time.

ironplanet uk900
I just put cardboard under my templates, no sticky or owt, Slow it right down for the last pass & just put my finger in the middle of the job.

Michael
How do you create these shapes in your software or do you draw them on paper and scan them in? Maybe you should make some tutorial videos and upload them to help us all be NEARLY as good as you....
