A BIG THANKS TO ASCAP29 excellent advice i played about with the machine on saturday wasted 6 dog tags sussing it all out but the advice on the contrast and brightness was spot on. i made up 4 sample lighters 10 id tags and put them on disply this morning and i done 7 tags and 2 lighters and didnt waste any. this seems to be a neat wee machine but i agree slow and not sure how well the lighter will wear as it does not engrave deep like my pantograph but looks like a great quality finished item. i use star zippo style lighters they only cost a quid and i got a tenner on each lighter the day i normaly only charge £6 with a name or initial engraved on it.

THANKS AGAIN ASCAP29

:D Why Not Have a Look At Gravograph's New M20pix Machine Out Now This Machine Not Only Engraves Onto Flat Items But Aloso Raised Our Curved Items Somthing That The Roland Machine Could Never Do,Also The M20pix Will Engeavr Photos With Greater Detail,It Costs More But It Will Engrave Text Aswel ,Some Customers Love The Idea Of A Photo On a Zippo Somthing The Jewller Might Not Be Able To Offer Them And You Get The Sale. See It At Trophex In January.

I had a trial of the Gravograph M20 Pix and unfortunately was unimpressed with the quality of the picture engraving against the Roland Metaza 70. I wanted samples of what could be achieved as the demonstrator had only just picked up the machine and we thought he might not know how to use it to its full advantage. Unfortunately we never received any further samples, so went for a Metaza 80 instead. Had a demonstration of that a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed with the quality of the engraving too - much better than the 70.

Took delivery of it this morning and can't wait to have a play over christmas. Thanks to everyone who offered help and advice.

Wishing you all a very merry christmas and a happy new year.

on the cheaper items, i wouldn't worry too much about wearing where the image is concerned but on dearer items you could try doming the product.

have a look at this, it may interest you if you're thinking long term.

this is the top end application, this stuff is designed to dry very quickly but if you want something cheaper that takes longer to dry then you can buy the doming compound from mastergrave. careful how you mix it though, it has to be bang on or it never dries :?

this may also interest some of you in other areas of our trade.

I am one of those unfortunate people who have had an item engraved by this proccess.

Item was a square pendant that hooks onto a mabile phone.

For sentimental reasons I wanted a picture of my wife to carry around (yeh I know I'm sad).

First class job and very appreciative of the very busy bloke who did it but, It wore off after 2 weeks.

Perhaps the Glaze trick may have saved it for me.
