Craig Gardner
hi i am considering buying mvp from sks mainly so i can do vag and vauxhall and peugeot keys. every other make we get asked for we can normaly do with transponder machine or radio head key. does anyone use this system and how gode is the code scrambling or do you need to rely on a main dealer for code. as most of my work is done outside office hours having to contact main dealers for codes is not going to be practical. as i said before it is mainly for vauxhall but got 5 56plate land rovers needing 1 spare key each done. and what would you charge for programing a key this way. craig
hibsjo(SCO)
Why buy from SKS? How does it scramble codes? VAG are 80% on the AD PRO! Vauxhall dealer only for newer codes older codes are available and Peugeot dealer only for codes unless you know something different. It wont do new land rovers but I can put you in touch with someone who can. You really need to look at your options here. MVP will be loaded with everything so you wont need 70% of the stuff. Unless your buying lots of tokens it makes it very expensive way of cutting/programming keys. Tels yer man carry on!

Tels yer man carry on! i spoke to sks some time ago when i was thinking about it but i am now nocking back at least 3 keys a week and dont want to do this. when i spoke to them last i thought they said you need an acess code to enter into the system but they said their is scrambling software that could find out the code but sometimes you would have to contact the main dealer. how helpfull are the main dealers at giving out the codes
hibsjo(SCO)
There are some scary stories regarding dealerships being closed shops but we have never encountered this, its down to having good communicational skills we have dealerships encouraging their customers to come direct to us (they dont want to cut/programme keys) Have you priced the MVP from source? Mark Davis
All car keys cost different amounts, car key programming is a mine field, the best way to establish if it is going to work for you is establish which keys for are getting a call for find out how much the dealer charges. Then how much is that key going cost you, How much is the token going to cost you Are you going to beable to get a code to gain commuincation with the vehicle? if so how much will this code cost you. VAG vehicles are not a winner, pre 2000 is a nightmare after 2000 is hit a miss. Vauxhalls are not a problem, but vauxhall are not that expensive. I think you will find it extremely difficult to be much cheaper than the dealer. when providing extra keys. The best way to make money using a key programmer is in the lost key market, where you can wipe the floor with the dealer on speed and price. I wish you luck
Auto Key Wizard
If you are going to be committed long term £5995 gets you an AD100 Pro & could give you a pay back in a little over two years if marketed correctly. A programming charge of £40-50 is quite achievable. I own a Pro, & if I had to make a decision again it would be the Pro every time.

Guest Phill
We bought an MVP Machine from SKS (very competative price as usuall) The earlier comments about a minefield are quite true. If your going to provide a replacing lost key service then the AD100 pro is the way to go. If your getting asked 3 times a week for one of these keys then bank on making about 2 sales a month because most customers fall over when you tell them the price. Out of the 27 we've done since we bought it, probably around half were what I would regard as straight forward. One time the socket in the car had no power to it, another time we could not find the socket at all. The MVP is a good way to judge your market without a large outlay. Including buying the token which we bought 50 of, we try to make around 50+ Vat per key. We've had our MVP around 10 months and made nearly our money back, but not without headaches, You MUST use the Hinkley Valtone trainning day provided (even if you get the MVP from SKS). Day one is free and advanced day is about £90 If I remember correctly. But use there web site forum for help and the back up is second to none. In summery it will make you money, but it is by no means straight forward and you'll find yourself sitting in a customers car, with them outside gazing in at you, and you cant get the f*@king thing to comunicate aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
