PR 88 Barrier cream

Recommended Posts

Has anybody tried the barrier cream PR88? It was being demonstrated at the exhibition.

I've been using it since my return and must say I am very impressed with the performance of it. It stinks of Almonds when applying it but it soon dries and doesn't have that sticky or greasy feel to it like some of the other barrier creams i've used.

Strangely enough I've testes dozens over the years both for dry and wet applications, none worked by creating a barrier against adhesive.

I've used Vaselene/Petroleum jelly every day for the past 40-50 years on the advice of a dermatologist. Still use it when painting as it lets you get the paint off easy. Not saying its the best way forward but the skin on my hands is as good now as it was 30 years ago. (the rest of me is all withered up  )

hi all

Well PR88 has reached this business has it?

Absolutely brilliant stuff i say

Been working in the commercial print trade for the last 15 years and we've been using it for ages where i work swear by it, weird texture ok but when it dries you hardly notice its there. then when done you just wash it off with water, turns to a soap like consistency and takes all the contaminent with it, if it can protect you form the nasty solvent we use its bound to be good for some of the nasty stuuf you chaps have to deal with!

Highly recommend! A+

Thank for that Andy,

As you have been using it long term, have you noticed any negative aspects arising from the use of it?

I found it does exactly what the chap said it does. I simply rinse it off at the end of the day with water.

Hi Iain

Not found any side effects from the cream at all, as long as the products you are working with are not water based otherwise it will just wash off obviously.

only need a small amount to be effective too, i usually find enough to cover three fingers sized scoop of it does both forearms and hands. once it has dried you dont even notice you have it on, far better than getting toluene solvent on your skin!

Havent used it constantly for a full days work but sure it would last a full shift

Cheers for that.

I apply it once each morning and then once again after washing my hands when i've been to the loo. I'm really quite amazed at how effective it is and how easy it is to remove. It seems to be lasting too. Both myself and my brother use it and there's still what appears to be nearly a full pot.

I shall be ordering it again if it ever does run out.

Can't say I am impressed I find it sticky and it helps to leave bigger fingerprints on polished surfaces.

not for me but if it works for you carry on :!:

don't know why you find it sticky Iain? It should dry out completely when applied, it must not be over applied as i said in an earlier post three fingers sized scoop is more than enough to do both forearms and both hands. We actually have dispensers and they only dispense about the size of a 50p - two drops and that is enough for both hands.

But hey as you say if its not for you..... be a boring world if everyone was the same would it not?
