NYKeys
Just had a meeting with new accountant who is desperate to push us onto Xero - presumably because of the large kickback they get from Xero for doing so! Also that it makes their job easier, not that that's a bad thing. I've had a look online and on trustpilot there's a real split between happy customers and irate customers. Any experiences here? crystal-engravers
NYKeys, Have been using Xero for a few months now. In the main I am reasonably happy with it but it does lack the features I was used to in QuickBooks. Although that could be down to familiarity. Very early days with Xero for me. One of the glaring drawbacks is the lack of a 'deliver to' box on invoices. Seems a pretty basic shortcoming to me and, judging by the Forums, a common complaint. Another issue I have is the inability to have a single 'Cash sale' account and store & save different names in the invoice. It cannot store different names in the 'bill to' field. If you change the name every historic invoice gets that name so it is no good for archiving purposes in Cash Sales where you get lots of different names etc. I've worked round it by putting the name in the reference field (unique and stored) and the customer details on the first product line of the invoice. Not ideal but it appears to work okay. I switched when I changed accountants and while it does have its shortcomings it saving me a huge amount compared to my last accountant. It certainly appears to speed things up come audit time although I do feel a tad uncomfortable knowing someone can look through my sock drawer remotely!! Just my thoughts after a few months.... k4mrc
My Accountant seems to wAnt me on Quickbooks my theory is I pay him to make decisions so I will go with that also wants to look into my bank account (without facilities to get at my cash) this will help him with better accountability? i did say why not run the biz also? Lol if it makes things easier So mr taxman stays away let’s do it!
K.J.Holmes
My accountant put me on QuickBooks about four years ago and works great for us. It's online and live and if I have any questions she can look into immediately there and then. Once you get your head round working the software it's good. crystal-engravers
Should mention that I was using the QuickBook programme (oldish) not the online version. Probably not much of a difference in the Quickbooks one way or another I imagine. The new accountant recommended to me uses Xero exclusively hence the switch.
