Charming up a bike shop

Near us, a bike shop will soon see the light. It makes me dream of a deluge of Abus Plus key orders.

 

I am looking for an old Abus Plus clamp to be used on a Unocode 299 and an instruction on how to actually get it to work.

 

Alternatively, I'd be interested in one of the old Abus Plus code machines, which, I think, are no longer made.

 

Aldridge offer a clamp, but Silca indicates it's for a Unocode 399.

DO NOT BUY IT !!!! they do not work.

 

399 and 299 are the same machine so that does not make any difference that is just a labeling issue.

 

The 1,2 and 3 cuts need to be rounded off to work correctly and you cannot do that with the Silca adapter unless you have the rotative jaw.

 

I was given the solution of removing the cover on my unocode 399 and turning the key by hand while it was being cut.

 

Health and safety would love that.

 

The Silca Idea which will hopefully be my next purchase, cuts them perfectly as it rotates anyway.

 

I returned the adapter for a refund and told them it is not fit for purpose. I also informed Aldridges of this but they still show 1 in stock.

I have an original SKM6000 machine but they are very difficult to find. Have a word with David Hudson or Andy Mace at Abus and they might know of a second hand machine for sale.

 

I also had a couple of the Silca machines brand new as well which i got for next to nothing for a large Abus order but i sold these a few years back.

 

You could always buy the following but it will only allow duplication and not cut to code so a worn key gets a worn copy.

The only adaptor available now is the V1 Rotating clamp only for 399 which is not the same as 299. The original adaptor GP refers to was made for the Unocode Classic. There is also a Delta machine for Abus.
