kobblers
Believe it or not, for the first time in 25 years I've been asked to recover a heel in patent leather. I'm having a problem with it Normally, I'd dampen a leather heel covering and stretch it into place but I tried that on the patent and it just wrinkled and looked a right mess. Any ideas? Rick. Stormwelt
Hi Rick. Does anyone near you have a splitter? I am lucky as I know someone at Cordwainers in Hackney who splits mine when I need it done. Do you have a belt maker or some such near you as the one near me also has a splitter, however, generally theirs only go down to 1mm when it would be better to go down to 0.5mm. But I have used 1mm covers before without much of a problem. Cheers Tom
