Vinyl Cutting

Recommended Posts

Got myself a vinyl cutter a couple of weeks ago and been playing around/learning....

Just made this multi-layer sticker for my son's cricket bat.

Was also looking for some of those little stainless steel V-shaped table number blanks that cafes use, if anyone knows of a supplier?

Any other ideas of applications, places to buy vinyls, substrates and other useful info/ideas??

did u do 4 layers, each cut on its own then applied one by one? what cutter did you get and what software r u running it with

Yes, using registration marks to line them up.

I bought the Silhouette Cameo from MDP Supplies. A cracking little machine for starting out, only about £250 +VAT

It uses it's own Siulhouette software which is more than capable and so easy to use.

In fact , is far less complicated than engraving software, but does more or less the same thing apart from fill/hatch routines!!

Just done a "KEEP CALM" wall art for my nephew but got me thinking about pricing jobs!!

How do you guys price vinyl jobs, I really don't know where to start. :-k #-o

The problem with vinyl cutting is theirs not much profit in it for the amount if labour time involved we print everything now we print all t shirts now instead of cutting flock I stopped cutting vinyl about 6 years ago as technology moved on an average transit van cut and fitted about £150 if multi layer vinyl needed around £50 to £70 in material but about 4 hours labour in design cut and fit in my opinion not worth it time can be spent elsewhere making more profit

I wouldn't be without mine. Not so much what you can make out of it, but what you can save with it. Shop signs & odds & ends. I sign write my cars etc. And I've offered a vinyl alternative when engraving isn't quite right for a job. I do a lot of Boat numbers & names here too. Price is difficult to judge sometimes. you have to do a few things, some jobs are more profitable than others.

I also do alright with wheelie bin numbers, because I also put the street name under the number so offer something a little different to the norm. I charge £10 a bin for those.
