Backhurst
Good day to you all. My name is Steve. I'm an Actor/Re-enactor from Faversham. As a re-enactor I portray a Royal Artillery Soldier from WW2. As part of my display I started polishing my boots and putting in the occasional hobnail or two. Word got round the event and I ended up replacing hobnails for others. With this interest from others, I am getting together an Army/Civilian mobile cobblers shop. Allan Price suggested this forum as the best place for hint, tips and advice. I have a number of lasts, tools and hobnail in my collection. I will post pictures of them when I get my bearings and find out what is posted where. My main interest in shoe repair is wartime, and any information, stories and photo's about this period in history will be more than welcome. Thank you for your time Steve
Lee
Hi Steve A lot of old school cobblers still have hobnails & horseshoe plates instock ( I do ) & I still do the occassional pair (mostly ceremonial boots) so I admire your passion. Backhurst
Some of my restored lasts. When I got them they were covered with rust and a couple were flaking. Will post a display picture when my re-enacting season starts.

Backhurst
This is just a static display. Have got plans for a bigger display with demonstrations on shoe repair and shoe shine with interaction with the public. Photo is of me at Salute To The 40's at Chatham Historic Dockyard last year, and yes I was keeping my eye on what I am doing before anybody asks.....
