k4mrc
How many keys do you cut that fail to work before you give in? this is a great question that makes me chuckle... This week I served a 'sheepish' customer, who had in his hand a padlock, asked me "can you cut this?" I said yes, took key and asked for the padlock, he refused, I just found the key and cut it, gave him the key which I am proud to ssay worked first time and he stood there amazed, as if I had invented the padlock or something. Then told me he had 80 cut down the road and 'none' fitted, but, NOT just 80 he had had 80 done, took them back to the works -did not work took em back they recut them and apparently recut them 4 times, WITH padlock - he still could not get it right!! The guy asked me what I did that was different? I said a"secret" He also said I was "more expensive" than the other guy, well the other guy could not do them?? 80 Keys, and then gave up!! standard 1A =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

jkamboj
Did he get a full refund for his non working keys ? Customer deserve full refund if his key I cut does not work. If its a bulk order, I check the key blank twice before I start cutting these. And then I check the depths of the keys with caliper before I hand these over to the customer. As for as a bulk order for the padlock keys is concerned, I always insist my customers to bring the padlock with them, so that I can test the keys right away to avoid any inconveniences. And, I always stamp the keys I cut so that the keys cut else where does not come back to me as if I had cut these. Jas
k4mrc
We were cutting "1A's"! any body 'worth his salt' should be able to cut these, with or without the padlock! I thought it incredible that this guy just kept cutting NEW keys for every key - and not trying to work out what was wrong! I get them from this particular key cutter quite often ( I am VERY happy to say) he ain't got a clue, I would love to take pictures and post them for you guys to have a giggle about - in fact I will try and do just that! If we get a key back the very first thing is why? and then thru due process of elimination then, get it right!
jkamboj
Must mean that very few are using a caliper Thanks for the kind words LockSafe. I always have my caliper handy near my counter. Another tool I always carry is magnifying glass. I repair watched in addition to key cutting here. People on the Kia forums know me as a key cutting guy with digital caliper and magnifying glass. Quite a few customers come here to convert their Kia Forte key and remote into flip shell. The key blade in this flip shell (Made in Taiwan) does not have standard dimension and I have to do adjustments to cut this key right. That's why I have to use Caliper and magnifying glass to cut this key to perfect cuts. One of such forum members cut his flip shell key at 8 different places including dealership. No one can cut his key right. He came to me and I took about 15 minutes to cut this key to perfection. He was extremely happy and then he introduced to many more forum members for the key cutting service. Jas
