A few years ago I was singing the praises of the owner of a shop in Chesterfield going under the name of Peters Repairs. Had a good range of Traditional Shoes for sale and well displayed. Shop was clean and tidy and looked of top quality.

On Saturday I was on a visit to Doncaster with freinds and came accross another branch of what appeared to be the same organisation (I may be wrong but the shop colour and format looked the same).

How a layer of dust over all the display shelves dramatically changed the quality vision.

Please step back and look at your displays, can you see dust? remove it on a regular basis, dust covered shelves are not a pretty sight.

Shoes in the window of this establishment were averaging £150... would you as a customer purchase these shoes covered in dust?

Also a new dustbag on the finisher cuts down on dust. :)

You still have to check your displays on a regular basis, you would still get plenty of dust (just check your vac contents at home)without machinery.

Also tarnished Silverware in a display cabinet is not a selling aid, it is a put off. Customers think that they will be sold the ones in the cabinet. Spotlights are very good for showing dust on glass shelves.

It is so easy just to get on with the jobs in hand and forget about cleanliness.

Many of you have superb displays that have taken many hours to set up, plus the initial cost, dont let your efforts go to waste. Dirty shops in prime locations give the trade a bad name.
