Lee
I did an S type jag (in a jeremy clarkson type Jaaaaaaaaaaag voice) using a ford tibbe key & tpx2 today, however I noticed the jag key had a ridge running round the tip, which I assumed was to allow the key into the lock so I filed the grove/ridge onto the blank & it worked fine. So my question is, did I need to file the tip or would it have worked without doing this? Secondly theres a slim chance I might pick up doing a remote & key for the same car, are there any complications programming them? Lee

kingkey
if you do not use a jaguar blade you must file as you did or the key will not operate in the boot
Lee
I didn't check it in the boot hopefully neither will the customer I had a feeling it was needed, so hopefully my neat filing will have been correctly done! Lee
Mick Friend
Those exec cars always used to have a Valet key or chaffaur key glove box would not open and the ignition would not work, so the bell hop could get the luggage etc not sure if they still do that. redcap
All valet keys that I have come across start the vehicle. It is only the boot (and usually glovebox) that they will not operate. (Like the 1964 Merc 600 I re-keyed last month). The theory is that the valet key can be handed to a Valet parking attendant, who can then park the car without gaining access to the luggage/valuables that are safely locked away. grahamparker
Most valet keys can be bypassed by recutting the key onto the correct blank as the valet key is usually on a different profile to the master.
