Lee
I’m anticipating the arrival of a programmer next week, but one area that I’m still pondering on is the mention of clearing error codes. Is this error codes from the engine management? Does this mean you can switch off service lights? Do the codes shown, just show numbers or a description of the problem? Is there any mileage in promoting this to diy & professional mechanics? Lee
Simes
I'm not aware that it will turn off service lights. It's not something that I have seen happen. I think it's a limited number of faults that are cleared. Maybe someone else can give a more comprehensive answer.
grahamparker
One issue that crossed my mind before i opted for the ad100 was "did i want to become an auto electrician" as the answer to this was no the ad100 was exactly what i was looking for. The option to reset error codes on there machine usually only refers to anything key or keyfob related. One thing i didn't want to happen was to program in a key for the customer to say that the air bag light has come on and it was my fault. As the machine i bought had nothing to do with the airbag i could say that it was nothing i had done to cause this. Resetting fault codes does not always cure the fault and it could come back as soon as the customer has taken the vehicle away(vauxhall airbag lights ar notorious for this) which means more time and effort which could cost you not only the customer but a lot of your own time trying to correct a fault that really requires a new air bag unit or something else. Lee Error codes only relate to immobiliser programming and functions. There are a number of scanning tools available that read/clear all types of fault codes, so I wouldn't get too involved in that field. HTH
Guest NPXT
The function "Erase Error" is a function that has nothing to do with turning off light service , this is a specific function ,and isn't features of AD100 , SDD. In my five years' experience of programming keys with SBB , I never happened to damage ECU , during the normal operations . Has happened that Immobilizer went locked so the original key not start the engine . If you lock the Immobilizer Don't worry is there the emergency procedure to unlock the IMMOBILIZER ECU , this procedure is different every car.
