State of the art engraving machine

Recommended Posts

On a business forum that I am a member of, someone who has caused me quite a bit of grief is now bragging that she has just ordered a brand new state of the art engraving machine. Said it cost similar to a brand new car and will be capable of engraving a lot of items in one go. Anybody got any ideas as to what engraving machine this could be? They reckon that this has only just come out.

easy to eat yourself up with what the competition are doing pussycat, ignore it! continue to do what you do to the best of your ability & you will build a customer base that simply won't be interested or understand the machine in the window of your competitors.

aye this it here
  maybe you should be worried pussycat

Maybe they're not really into engraving at the moment and they're getting an IS400 or something. Could be a laser maybe? If it were something seriously groundbreaking, I'm sure the makers would have been spamming us current engravers for ages pushing it.

You never know what one persons opinion of state of the art is. My Dad thinks because he gets an automated email with orders on pretty much straight away is pretty flash :D

They are an engraving business at the moment and are upgrading. She reckons that this will engrave 20 pieces of jewellery at once.

Her words:

"Tomorrow we are trialling a brand new state of the art engraving machine which is so exciting. We are desperately in need of another engraving machine and this one would be able to engrave about 20 pieces of jewellery at once which means we can push ahead with our expansion plans - I just hope it all works and we can afford it (which is more to the point, I could buy a new car outright with how much it costs)."

I am such a nosey so and so aren't I?

hmmm, most machines can be programmed to do several items at once but normally they have to be the same item. if you do one or 20 it can take just as long to set up. to do 20 in one go would be for bulk stuff. you can program the is range to do many plates at once or even if you have a list of names for awards program them the once and each time you change the plate it engraves the next in the list.

state of the art? cost of a car? sounds more like a laser or they are being ripped off....................
