Lee
its been six months since we surveyed How do you predict trade for the next 12 months? So this month & with the recession still so prominent in the news I feel its worth asking how those predictions are panning out now its 6 months into the prediction period, to see how the current climate is affecting us 6 months on. How HAS trade been in the last 6 months compared to last years?
Guest lee.
Our trade has dropped by about 25% over the last year , peoples shopping habits seem to have changed , many now using out of town shopping "Sheds" , visiting Supermarkets "after hours" ( between 6pm and 8am ) to fit in with 24/7 work shifts, and buying groceries and other items online. Far less "browsers" than we used to get ,you know the sort "i was just passing and thought i would ask ", and far more who specifically come in ask the price of a Key ( £2.50 for a cylinder , £4 for a mortice) and tell us they will "think about it " , lets face it you either want a spare or you do not , but some seem to have the time to "shop around". Michael
Just had my last complete years (2007-2008) accounts back. Down 4.1% but managed to keep profit roughly the same 2008-2009 just finished and looks to be about 15% down , but I've been quite tight with my buying so hopefully profit should be not too bad
