cobblers&keys
I am trying to source a way of getting through soles on Clarkes shoes,As I have a customer that sells these shoes who used to send them to Kendall, but since the factory shut down has been sending her shoes to Ts workshop, But her customers are now complaining about the Quality (Her words not mine) I thought there might be a call for this service if anyone knows of who does it ?As often the uppers stay in good condition whilst the soles perish
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
If any knows where the se shoes can be repaired it would be Clarks themselves, has the manager of the store contacted their HQ to find if there is another recommended reapirer? Only recommended repair outlets will be able to get hold of these sole units.
cobblers&keys
I'm thinking more in the lines of the shoes being bought into me (as the middle man) and then having a slice of the cost.
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Please be wary of ending up paying out for new shoes if the customer has a complaint. no matter who repairs them it is you the customer has entrusted the shoes to and it is you that is responcible for the quality and quarantee of the repair. Sort of... he who takes the money, takes the risks, and they are risky, you have only to look at the posts where others are having problems sticking anything to these shoes. Trying to find a solution that allows the customer to wear the soles out before the things drop of is ongoing on the forum.

kobblers
and they are risky, you have only to look at the posts where others are having problems sticking anything to these shoes. . i never have a problem with clarks shoes not sticking, maybe the right preparation isn't being used! there are two excellent primers on the market at the moment, both of which i use; one is the renia rehagol in the yellow bottle and tek 10 (also made by renia for birch and now also under a different name for colledge's). between these two i've not found anything, even the weird man made stuff that i've not had success with. rick. Michael
Same here....using Rehagol yellow lable primer and Bostik 6092 adhesive I haven't found anything yet it wont stick!
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
All very well gents but you are talking of a scoured down and cemented sole stuck on top of the existing one. Clarks customers and Retail Managers are after a replacement unit. No adhesive on earth will work unless you can get hold of the units.
cobblers&keys
Replacement units (or as close to original) is exactly what I am looking for. I Know about sticking soles on top of units and I do this for general customers, But as Hugh says I am talking about trying to match soles as new shoes for retailers and Clarkes customers. Thanks anyway
kobblers
aaah, did'nt know you were referring to proper original units. why wouldn't adhesive and primer stick these tho? i remember you once telling us that renia performed a scouring action if i'm right? rick. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Adhesive will stick rick, it is down to obtaining the units and that seems an impossible task. Like most footwear manufacturers styles change and to hold stocks of all styles in all sizes in all colours is an astronomical task in itself, a job for a very large wholesaler. Then what happens when the styles change yet again, who buys the redundant stock. Manufacturers hold units to supply current demand on newish lines then when the market changes and manufacturing techniques with it, they then offload the stock and move on to more profitable things like having the shoes made in China. now getting sole units from China may be possible if you want several thousand of a line currently in production..... any takers?
