Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
I think that a very good product, and I do say "think" as I will probably not see them this year as it looks like the show date is the date I'm in Spain, has been tarnished by poor graphics and a poor job. The soles have not been stitched (unless they were done on a Patcher) the channels look like they have been blacked to disguise the fact that there are no stitches and the edges have been scoured because whoever did them did not have a suitable trimmer or an dincorrectly adjusted trimmer guard. I wonder how long it will be before they are changed
windycity
seen the advert pic i guess its not everyones cup of tea but if you had the benchmoark picture up how would your own work compare with it could you turn out job as good as that eevry time, well if you can you don't really need any posters to promote leather soles just a pair you have repaired. if you really feel the must for a poster make one get the soles you want to advertise or your repair take a pic load on to pc add some font put on disc or simular pop into a print shop and get some made. or do a long sole put a strip of masking tape across and wax/polish the waist take of the tape and you will have a repair very simular to the bench mark picture but i am not suggesting that bench did that their repairer is very very good. i could not turn out a job as good looking as that every day also i don't do much leather work. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
The shoes in the Benchmark Ad are the ones that won the Healys sponsored last Shoe Repair competition, I think!!! Proper cobbling that. (Almost as good as mine )

robinh
Hugh is absolutely right. The shoes in our ad were the winning pair from our competition and were submitted by Keith Dutton who was employed by Timpsons !!!!!. However I also have an equally well repaired shoe which was used to promote JR leather. This can be seen in the the advert on page 11 of the October issue of Cutting Edge. These were repaired by a gentleman from Bradford and I deeply regret that I cannot remember his name but he was a gentleman and a craftsman. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Just had a look at page 11, nice job that even though not too much detail can be seen. The moral of the story is, If you are going to promote a new product, get it right first time.
robinh
The gentleman who repaired the shoes in the Rendenbach advert was called Jack Widdop of Bradford and I believe he won an international medal for his repair skills.
