keithm
I would chack and double check my key machine. Sometimes, setting the adjustment a little high for example may suit most locks as there is a little leway with them. However, some prefer to be right on the nose, so to speak. I've had this many times in the past, specially after putting on a new blade, setting it up, cutting keys for 3 days with no probs then getting a right barsteward of a key that keeps coming back. Check, check, check I say Worth trying me finks! Keith
Guest mark
Had a sofi key in the other day i cut it , he came back, cut another , he came back, So i got 4 test locks out a ruko ans9cs lock a 1a yale lock and a nrn9cs I cut all 4 test locks and they all worked so when he came back for the third time I gave him a refund and said bring an original key in not a copy, do you think a refund was fair or should I have said the keys your fault, as it happens I took it on the chin was nice and explained what could be the problem with him having a copy what more can I do
kobblers
most of the keys we cut are from copies mark, unless it's a bad copy i don't think you could explain it away as being the reason a second copy won't work, especially if the primary copy works faultlessly. i think you did the right thing though, there probably may not have been much more you could have done short of keep cutting more copies which would just peeve the customer if he keeps having to return plus the cost to you in terms of time and money. just a bit of side information, the sofi blanks will nearly always work from ul1(hd) or 3a(hd). it may help you to try these blanks if you encounter any more problems with the sofi blanks you stock. regards, rick. Lee
Mark Do you have a machine with multiple vices? If so, under general use you would use plan flat ones, I have found that if you do come up with a problem if you switch to the vice that holds the grove, any variation in key blank profile which might make the blank sit in the lock at a different height is often ironed out. Sorry the images aren't to clear but I'm sure you know what I'm saying! Lee
Russell
The answer is quite simple and one that I found the answer to when having the same problem. You need to change your guide. Because the ruko is a very thick key it rides across the wear point in the guide. Other blanks like UL1 1A etc. sink into the wear point in the guide . So fit new guide, reset the machine and problem solved...simple as that!!!
