I am looking for a sheet material that I think used to be called "dorn"

it is a soft rubber sheet with small rubber spikes about 4-5mm in diameter and 5-6mm in height. It was mainly used on grass sports shoes such as hockey and cricket. Any help in the way of a manufacturer or supplier would be greatly appreciated. i am looking for it in a white.

cheers

This material was used by Adidas on some of their sports shoes/boots in white. A letter to their customer services may produce an odd pair or two.

It is mainly used now for Fell Running due to its self cleaning properties but only available in black and in specific sizes of long soles, no sheeting was manufacturedas far as I am aware.

What are you intending to use it for?

Perhaps the topic title is some kind of clue, Hugh?

There are many materials that are used for purposes that were not intended as the original use Steven B. Cricket soles can be used for Fell running. There are also several differing kinds of Cricket soles, some of which can be used for steeple chasing, 1000 meters track events, cross country etc etc. Now you see why I asked what they were being used for and the reason I asked was that I have a contact for the odd pair of soles.

Many times we who undertake this type of work are asked for an alternative sole substance to give them the edge over other competitors. Asking for the odd pair of soles is one thing but asking for continuation for a contract is a totally different matter. Now do you see that the clue may not be in the topic title although I suspect it may very well be.

stevenB was riight. I want to use it on cricket soles. We found some old sheet stock in the back of one of wholesalers, but only in black. Nobody seems to know where or who it came from. Maybe the shoe fairy left it there. (that would be the same one that doesnt do the work I leave on the bench overnight)

cheers

You need the elves to do your benching Brentlee, sadly there not available here in the UK  Lee

sorry to contradict you Lee but you will find that a Mr Charles Birch has them all working for him. they are after all, his trade mark!

I will make enquiries Brentlee to see if there are any old soles from when we used to repair the cricket shoes, most over here are using spikes now so the white rubber soles may have been disposed of. Being out of the trade for a while so I'm unsure of the current position.

Perhaps someone from the forum who is going to the Exhibition could ask Davies & Co for you as I think they used to manufacture the black version.

The White ones that I used came from Germany.
