Charles birch keys

Hi Terry

thanks for the info, I looked at them today to compare with JMA and they seem a bit thinner so i suppose that they will break or bend easier on deep cuts is this what you mean.

I only have their 1a's they just seemed a bit of a bargain at that price but i guess as always cheap is never a good route as it always leads to somewhere else or creates another prob, to sort out if you know what i mean.

Had an interesting one today masterpadlock jma blank MAS2D if you cut it in normal vice (record plus) it won't work you have to spin the vice round and clamp them from the bottom groove. But if you use davenport they work the normal way.

the jma blank is slighty out, its funny theydon't tell you on the packet.....

I had to phone sks to ask if there was anything i needed to know about this blank as the ones i had cut did not work their answer check your machine that can be so annoying at times if you keep your machines in ood shape, they said they would check their blnk against the padlock as hey stock them and call me back.

well thay didn't so i called them about 3 hours later and got sorry forgot to phone you back.by which time i'd sourced some davenport blanks.

Paul,

Here's another tip as regards the JMA version of the Yale X5 profile

If you have a genuine or HD YAX5 key, compare the height of the shoulder with that of the JMA & you'll notice the JMA one protrudes higher than that of the genuine or HD one, The Yale X5 cylinder is milled in such a way that the shoulder enters the keyway by a few millimetres and because of this the JMA blank will not go fully into the keyway of the cylinder, a quick fix is to set a genuine or HD blank in you machine & duplicate the shorter shoulder to the JMA keys, or better still just stock the HD YAX5

P.S. the small cutout on the back of the blade oppisite the shoulder, that isn't present on the JMA one isn't an issue

intresting comments -

thing is havent dav burgss just kicked out j.tim for haggling on price (to get cheaper blanks?)

j.t is trying to get cheaper and i suspect he will go to another supplier to get them cheaper.

i have all these blanks in stock, yes the original UL2 was bending (too thin) but was replaced (for the same price) with jma!

i have not as of yet had any problems you talk about. i had a rep from sks telling me that they were crap, but i have been cautious beyond belief - NOT ONE OTHER PROBLEM other than the UL2

so i for 1 will keep getting them - the profit is what were here for,

and so far have probaly cut close on 2 thousand, happy chappy!!!

oh and another thing,

i have had a rep from another co telling me that the sks rep is bad mouthing these blanks due to the low price NOT the quality - meaning they cant match the price so tell everyone quality crap!

point - what do independants say about timpsons - they cant repair shoes to the same quality as us! etc - yet most of them actually started with timpsons

- there prices are way above ours.,.,

Hi tel200

thanls for the tips on x5s i'm glad to say i use davenport b blanksfor these as they look the part and always work no probs.

I use sks and davenport for key supplies. Cbs offer seemed too good to turn down so thought i'd try them.

Richard said that davenport no longer supply j ts, i agree with the point uk900 is making about using the companys that supply us all year round and provide a great service to us all.

Moreso the likes of myself ie small shoe repairer who cuts afew keys not in say a busy shopping centre/high street.

we all have our ups and downs but both sks and davenport provide a great service and good backup ie parts for machines, conversion books and of course it goes with out saying ref. books/catologues or those first editions that i have read about in posts (i don't quite get that one).

What are the rumours about who is going to supply j ts any ideas...

regards paul
