damen.rudi
Hello, Silca makes wonderful machines and I think the Futura is the answer of Silca on the Mirage and other cheaper devices. I saw the machine and was asthonished about the possibilities but was also disappointed about the speed of work. We own an Unocode Classic, a real old machine but it cuts a key in one time. The key the Futura cutted was in 4 times. So it took really time.
rapidlocks
i do tend to agree , it seems the more functions a machine has the slower they become , i wouldnt swap out my viper , ive nothing but praise for it . if you cut heavy duty the individual machines will always be the quickest and best option , but if cutting on a lower scale then an all in one machine is a great option , and it is silca after all , and silca updates and support ive found top notch . the best machine for you is the one that suits your needs and budget the best , it certainly is a buyers market with so many options of good quality machine available from a range of manufacturers ranging from budget to top drawer , all having their own positives and negatives . i bought silca when i first invested in machines as was advised by wiser than me that a silca machine was a machine for life , well all of mine are still working hard and still as well as they did when new , like with anything , you get what you pay for , so picking a machine is picking a major asset and should be done carefully with the long term in mind , i look at which machines remain supported even after being superceeded , which machines are proven to cut accurately over time with the least down time , and buy what suits my budget and business the most . its now a market where we are spoilt for choice , but the name silca on a machine will always count for something , i dont have a futura yet , but never say never . lock&quay
I would always go for a dedicated machine if you are doing a lot of keys . I also have a Viper but I found the back up poor & I really wish I had imported one , saving over 30% including import duty . as most info I had to find out myself from Italy . Even from new, the Aldridge Rep at the time went to demonstrate it with a plastic key & you can guess what happened , I knew more about the machine than he did . Having said that I might get the Edge kit as that has come down in price a bit & I don't do a huge amount of standard car keys .
