Factory repairs

Recommended Posts

I went into a gents outfitters who has a large range of Loake shoes .the assistant came over and asked if I would like to try some on ,and continued to give me a well rehearsed speech on looking after you're shoes and the importance of sending the shoes back to the factory for repair and not to you're high st cobbler,,as he put it .i told him that there are a lot of very good repairers out there who are more than capable of repairing them to a high standard ,he then went on about the shoes being put back on original lasts etc etc. this made me think that if every agent for loakes was to give this little speech then it doesn't do the repair trade any favours. And loake being one of the the more everyday brands I thought was a bit of a problem. ,you're thoughts on this :(

there all ass oles, trying to make out that there repairs are 'bespoke' to get more customers to take the shoes to them - he probably cannot even spell let alone recognise a good repair. Yes there are good and bad every where, ask any person in this trade and they all slag off the git up the road!

Years ago I worked at one of these so called 'repair factories' he is on about, and honestly the only difference is they do not 'serve' customers!
