keysmith
Hi guys, I have a DN76 and after replacing the horn with a new one from standard about two years ago if has worked great until recently, when a new staff decided he knew how to set it up to make it run better, needless to say I am now down one stitcher and one staff member!!!!!! Any help or pointers, I have used these machines for 30 years and thought I was quite proficient on the settings but this thing is in my dreams at night and in my eyes when I am driving, I hate it, please help! I am turning the machine manually in the normal rotation of operation, When the thread splitter moves into its furthest point of travel left (before starting its return) I am setting the whirl so that the small hole is at 3 oclock, I then replace the plate securing the logest (bottom) screw first then the shorter top screw. If I rotate the machine manually again it picks up the thread as it should, however once I put a shoe on for stitching it stitches approx seven stitches perfectly then stops picking the thread up, if I continue to try to stitch it misses twenty stitches then stitches seven perfect stitches then stops picking up again. I then remoe the needle plate again and check the setting only to find the setting of the small whirl hole has moved and the machine is not set. I then repeat the setting process only for it move again after trying to stitch. The setting seems to be jumping after a few stitches. Any pointers please? keysmith
Thanks again guys, I heard from Nick at standard who advised me to look at the whirl, which drew my attention to the gear under the horn which had come loose on the shaft causing the machine to jump in and out of sequence, once i got the correct height of the gear and re tightened she is just like a new machine, thanks standard \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
