Payatrader Portable Terminal

Recommended Posts

Finally got an email notification this afternoon that they are ready for those that expressed an early interest.

Ordered mine within 10 minutes of the email.

I came so close to taking out a 3 year contract with Streamline, glad I held back now.

A local garage to me took on a 3 year contact.

When he was checking his contract paperwork a few days after it had arrived, he noticed it was a 60 month contract instead of a 36 month.

When he contacted them to get it changed, they refused, saying he should have done it within 7 days, so now he's stuck with 48 x £39.00 until it expires.

Found a potential problem.

I was going to do an "end of day" and noticed that the battery was very low and might pack up during transmission.

I unplugged my phone that was charging from my laptop USB lead, and plugged it into the terminal.

I heard it beep, and noticed something on the screen about "security" and to reset it.

I reset it through the hole in the rear of the case, turned it on but it only got as far as the bootup with THYRON SAFEGUARD inside a locked padlock.

I tried it a few more times, same problem.

Spoke to Payatrader who initially were a bit baffled, they spoke to the manufacturer who agreed there was a problem and arranged to change it for a new one.

I sure the problem was connecting to my laptop whilst the terminal was turned on, as it saw this as a security breach and gone into lockout mode.

Now if I have done this, I'm sure a lot more people will also do this accidently.

I've reported this to Payatrader and they have gone back to the manufacturers to investigate, but I've heard nothing back.

That small issue aside, its a great little machine, can't recommend it highly enough.

I've definitely taken additional business since getting the terminal, especially towards the end of the month when people are a bit cash strapped and just bang it on the credit card.

I use pay a trader virtual terminal but tempted by renting the machine its not bad for £3 a week, dont think the buy the terminal outright not though, is £195 and they still require a monthly charge? But im happy with just taking payments on line or calling there call centre who take your payments for you. Not bad for £99 or less if you find there discount code on line.
