actionman
Hi i cloned a transponder for a customers 1999 Saab 9-3 this morning with my ad900. The original id14 chip was cloned fine with the T5. The problem i'm having is the transponder aerial in the car won't read the new chip unless i left the aerial away from the ignition barrel & put the chip next to the inside edhe of the aerial. When the chip is in the new key or even sat on the barrel with the aerial in place it doesn't detect it. The customers original transponder works fine even though it's easily about 1" away from the aerial when it's in the key. I cloned it again with a 2nd T5 but that was still the same I initially thought it was due to the silca key case being thicker than the original Saab key which is why i took it out & tried it closer to the aerial. It's odd that the T5 has be touching the aerial to work when the original can be 1" away. Anybody got any ideas? thanks Craig
Count Muppet
If the t5 chip is the yellow belly type they won't work, it needs to be the full black chip. This was discussed a couple of years ago
actionman
yellow belly? i bought them from 3d group, they're all dark grey with no markings on at all
redcap
yellow belly? They have an white opaque paper or plastic bottom and have been quite common over the last couple of years... I guess they will probably turn yellow if you keep them long enough or buy old stock? Anyway; this is a well known and well documented problem with the Saabs. Basically the chip is not 'strong' enough to send back a signal to the ariel. Some people claim using a solid carbon chip cures the problem... I have always had my doubts.... Using a genuine Saab key (which has a bigger, 'stronger' chip) and coding it in diagnostically always cures the problem.
3D Group
We can order a key to chassis number if you wish to code diagnostically. T5 chips have always had their problems with the Saab ID14. Ours though have had the most success rates this is why we changed supplier.
