GS98 - On USB - No LPT PORT! - Validation Codes

Recommended Posts

Hiya Everyone,

Taz from Engrave UK here, For some time now its been impossible to upgrade your computer systems to modern computers without LPT1/Serial/Com Ports, I have found a way to legaly BACKUP your own dongle and run YOUR software without a dongle needing to be plugged in.

Only problem everytime I run GS98 it opens up the "about GravoStyle98" box and needs a code to be validated.

Anyone know what needs to go in the Code Box?

I think mine used to have somthing in there but now not sure?

If your interested look up SoftKey Solutions SENTINEL Emulator.

I MUST STRESS THAT THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU CURRENTLY HAVE A LEGITIMATE GS98 DONGLE. THE SOFTWARE NEEDS YOUR ORIGINAL TO TAKE AN IMAGE/DUMP SO YOU CAN USE IT UNPLUGGED.

Hope someone can help.

Taz :-)

Fair enough,

Have read document and WILL NOT be posting tutorial,

Did cross my mind and didn't want to step on anyones toes...... ie. gravograph..... a simple google search will show lists of UK BASED companys offering a dongle back-up service...... they seem to charge £300 plus !

All i've personally done is use similar software to the DONGLE BACK-UP COMPANYS to take and image of and implement my OWN dongle.

As i said previously I have no intention to illegally bypass any copy protection,

Im just trying to save hardworking folk a few quid when it comes to running old software (which we've all paid for and legally own) on a new computer...WE ALL KNOW WHO HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS..

Thanks for reading,

Im happy to take any personal messages regarding software probs on Mac OS, Windows 7....I can even make a nice fast apple mac from cheeper PC components!

yes, every company out there, spending MILLIONs developing software & protecting it accordingly. The person who raised this issue with me, was NOT someone you would have imagined! But it does show just who's keeping an eye on whats going on, on the forum.
