Guest lee.
Odell have had new moulds made and have changed factories in China , same mix of material , sent straight from there supplier ( in Germany) to China manufacturing base. Moulds have been "shotblasted" to give a dull matt finish to the sides of the toppieces , they say that they look more like "Rubber" now, once exsiting stocks the wholesalers have are gone everything will be coming through like this now , you will notice the new stock by the new packaging . means you will have to run your old stocks out so as not to mix them up and put "odd" looking ones on. Still the same reliable product , new moulds should mean less "flash" on the toppieces ( most noticable on old 7/16's), and an all round cleaner finish to the moulding. Guest lee.
We are still using the "old stock" , however looking at the sample Odell gave me you appear to be right , forget new moulds , looks like they have had the old ones Skimmed ( to level the faces up again and prevent "flash") , and shotblasted at the same time , now looking more like 5mm than the 6mm we are used to , could be we will be looking elsewhere , such a shame we were confident in the wear properties from superdark
timuk
good i'm glad its not me going mad ! you would have thought they would have put a note out to the suppliers on there intention to change the product ! birch never knew anything about this when i rang them just ! yes they are 5mm instead of 6 mm and dont look half as good ! shame as i have been using sd for 20 years !
