Guest ERB1960
Hi, can anybody help ... ... after my old PC gave up the ghost, I have had to load Gravostyle Quick on a new XP laptop to run my Gravograph M40g. The software boots up OK and it is able to identify the machine on the USB port ... but it seems to think it is printing to an IM4 not an M40g - a dialogue warning box comes up with "Wrong file for the connected table" whenever you try to talk to the M40g. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and driver (GT_Smartstream) a couple of times, but it still comes with the same error message. How can I tell the Gravostyle Quick Click 2.37 software that it is talking to an M40g not an IM4 ... Many thanks for your help in advance ... Cheers Richard
Gray
I'm not familiar with Gravostyle, I use Visualtoolbox but this may help page 11. http://www.gravo.dk/Filer/Microsoft%20W ... tyleUS.pdf I'm no expert and you may be better to wait for someone more qualified to answer which they will but it sounds like the software has IM4 as the default machine
Guest ERB1960
Wow ... thanks for the quick reply ... ... I've tried reloading the print drivers a couple of times using the Printer Wizard ... but you're right, it must be something to do with the software's default settings ... maybe there's a more up-to-date version of the software out there somewhere. Have a good weekend. Cheers Richard
Mick Friend
If your hard disc from the old machine is OK you can put this into a desktop enclosure and then see this as an add on drive, I recently did this when I swopped machines, had the old drive working for weeks while I found the files I had forgotten I needed. You could also check the 'printers' box on the start menu and see if the machine is labelled 'default' if not right click it and 'make default' Other than that I have a diamond tipped scriber??????? Gray
Do you mean in the control panel printers and faxes Mick? I've just looked in mine and my printer is set as default and my engraver works OK. I think ERB1960 needs to find the machine in the engraving software Otherwise he will be having to engrave his A4 invoices.
Guest ERB1960
Thanks Mick ... unfortunately it was the hard disc on the old machine freezing when I was using the software that made me get the new laptop ... And yes rlj, you're right, on my old system the default printer pumped out the invoices on an inkjet ... the M40g printed via a virtual USB printer port 001 Thanks for the help. Cheers Richard Diamond tipped scriber??

ANDY
On your main engraving screen where you type out. on my g5 software top left click "engrave" "config machines" "add a machine" or on 98 "machining" "set up machines" "add a machine" bound to be something similar on gravo quick does that help

Gravograph_John
Gravostyle Quick Click...which version? Anyway, easy answer is, click in the grey area, top left hand corner you have IM4 in a drop down box, click this and change to M40G...problem solved. Unless you have a REALLLLLLY old version that doesn't have M40G there...? Thanks

Pyrite
What sort of connector is on your M40g? XP has a good many difficulties creating a virtual LPT/Parallel port on usb even when utilising the correct converter. Perhaps try to change the baud rate that the port is trying to talk to. Another trick that I discovered for my rubber stamp maker here in Australia (uses one of the old LPT connectors instead of usb) was that I got a converter that went from usb to a serial connector (I used a belkin one - comes with an installation disk and does all of the hard work for you) and then placed a serial to LPT/Parallel converter on that. Annoying proceedure but that worked for me. Cheers
