Perplexus
I'm trying to locate a source of small gilt briefcase hasps. CB don't seem to have them any more, Abbey only have large ones, and Cox Saddlery are charging £8.00 each (a bit OTT!). Any bright ideas would be appreciated! Perplexus
I already tried Le Prevo . . . they had a few rivets for fixing hasps, but no hasps! However, Healy's came up trumps - thanks Hugh. I should be receiving some hasps and rivets shortly. We never had these problems before Charles Smith fled the island! Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Thanks perplexus, I thought charles smith was now under another name.
Perplexus
Oxford Leathercraft took over the Springvale Leather name from Charles Smith, but they cut a lot of items from their catalogue, including most of the leather fittings and other bits and pieces that made Smith's so useful. They still carry a great range of leather goods at reasonable prices.
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Shame, I used to like Charles Smiths. Used to get my Leather belt made up by them as they were the only ones who would make for a size 60" waist. Now I just put a huge piece of elastic in the middle so I can go up to infinity
Perplexus
Large belts are a speciality of mine! I use bridle leather, which often cuts to a 72" strip, giving a belt length of about 62" fixing. I do a lively export trade to the US, where people seem to be generally bigger than in the UK!
