Adjusting Gravo 400's

Recommended Posts

As you know I have just got my 400 and it is slightly out of alignment perhaps one of the gravo reps or uk900 could do a step by step tutorial on resetting the bed. :D as it would be a waste of time skimming the bed as you would need to do it everytime you put it on, as you would never get it back on in exactly the same place. (sorry kev - I have seen your machines and I think you need an extra hamster  )

Iain, sorry I forgot to answer your post. I may not be the best person to answer this post, A gravograph engineer may be better to advise.

However I always manage to keep mine level, and I am uk900 so here goes.

waste of time skimming the bed as you would need to do it everytime you put it on, as you would never get it back on in exactly the same place.

Firstly Iain, once the bed is set and is level, It will automaticly sit exactly were it was last time, and every time you replace it. as it can only sit on the three points of the machine.

The two points at the back marked 1 & 2 in the above picture usually have threaded grub screws in which can be adjusted up or down from underneath.

I have noticed on some of the newer machines these screws are missing but the threaded holes are still there, you may need to buy some grub screws and insert them from the top as the holes don't go right through the body of the machine. Then you will need to adjust from the top, making it a little trickier, as you have to take the bed off to adjust.

This adjusts your X axis

The other point marked 1 in the first picture, is adjusted on the bed its self.

The brass insert can be screwed in or out to qadjust the Y axis

clockwise will higher the bed, and anti clockwise will lower the bed.

now you know how to adjust the three points, its a case of trial and error to get it spot on.

Hope I've made it clear enough.

Note this only applies to Gravograph 400's.

Lee it might be an idea to put this someware for members to find easily, as it seems to be a common problem.

Steven

If you can make a PDF/j.peg or zipped file from these add them in the downloads section, as the upload picture re-sizes images making them not so clear.

I have also just added this to the tutorials section along with other tutorials produced in the last couple of days.

Thanks guys great posts and info.

I will certainly have a go at this cos my x and y axis's are both out about 0.3 - 0.4 mm higher on right hand of bed than left and about 0.2 - 0.3 higher at the front than the back.

oh and note to Gravograph I never got a user manual with the machine :( but if you would like to send me one it would make me :)

My Gravo machine user manual came on a CD, along with another CD with instructions for all the available accessories (such as the T Slot table).

If you have no joy from Gravo let me know & I'll email you a copy.

If Gravo don't have a problem with any possible copyright issues.

If they do, I guess they'll send it themselves....
