HowardK
Yes, the free APP works quite well, tried it on several keys, some new and some quite worn ones, using our sons Android phone, he ( not a locksmith ) was able, with my help in finding the proper Silca / Instacode key numbers, decoded the keys photos accurately, it goes fast once the short learning curve is over, I do not have an Android phone, Yes, I still site read and or decode keys using my Framon 2, but if I had the phone and the APP I would use it as well, it is another free tool to add to the arsenal of tools I already have... best to do is download it and try it and make your own decision as to use it or not
redcap
Well... I've tried it on a few keys now.... It's definitely not 100% (although not too bad) and, even with practice, by the time I have opened the app, positioned the key, taken the photo, etc, etc, I could have already sight read AND cut the key and be well on the way to getting it programmed! As a gadget freak, I love these types of toys.... but from a business point of view, I think that's all it is.... a toy..... I will be sticking with the MK1 eyeball... (although, aided by a x2 prescription set of reading glasses, admittedly!).
