Brythompson
HI All Just an quick question from someone who has no knowledge of Auto key cutting/Cloning. I had a customer in saying that he bought a machine called a AK90 from Ebay that will copy all BMW keys including the crypto chip. It cost him £60. I had a feeling he was talking rubbish can anyone enlighten me please. If its true then will it clone other crypto chips Cheers Bry T
rapidlocks
this will not clone the bmw chips , by all accounts the kit works , but more to it than cloning , the 52 leg chip needs varnish cleaning off and desoldering from the circuit board of the immo , then its put into the reader that comes with kit , the kit then reads the key details from the chip . once read the kit can then program blank chips to start the engine. once chips are prepared the chip needs to be correctly soldered back to the board and the immo refitted . the chips can then be put into a key blade and its ready to start the car . so if he thinks he has a simple cloner , hes wrong. its eeprom and does same as any eeprom reader and programmer like zedbull , miraclone , tango etc , except these have many applications , the ak90 just bmw ews system. rapidlocks
the new bmw multitool is rumoured to be good , i have ak300 which is good and via obd or cas plug , but only on cas systems. with bmw , the problem isnt in getting kit to program the cas keys and smart keys, the problem is getting a good supply of reliable remote keys at a price you can compete with the dealers on , the dealers are dirt cheap on these here , making the job unviable . decker
BMW have started re-calling CAS system vehicles due to the recent thefts. What programmer will work on them then i wonder.
rapidlocks
for what main dealers charge now , you are better off negotiating a trade price with them , make your customer wait 24 to 48 hours , turn up with the key ready to start the engine and just program in remote . kits expensive , keys are expensive , making it difficult to compete with dealers .
