Shoe Repairer Forum

Recommended Posts

There used to be a city & guilds for repairing, but its long since disappeared. I don't think there are any CREDIBLE training courses out there these days although the MSA offer a training course through one of their committee members shops, but they aren't nationally recognised, I don't think you'd get a job on the back of having done one.

Shoe repairs are very very unique. most of the services attached to it you can leant on a course quite quickly. Leaning all the unusual repairs & gaining the quality required takes years. Its a bit like hair dressing it can't be picked up in a few days you have to develop your own style & understanding.

Good Luck.

Sorry i need to explain myself better. I may be moving abroad in a few years and was looking for qualication to but on the CV. I would like one in the trade i know if possable. I've been a cobbler for around 8 years now. If i have a bit of "paper" saying i can do my job i will score more points rather than recommendations from people who have been in the trader for decades. (I don't know how these things are scored but personally give me a recommendation from somebody in the trade for years rather than a bit of paper saying i can do x-y & z in a class room.)

Thank you though Lee.
