Lee
The other side of the coin.......... Delivery ain't free, doesn't matter where or what you are buying! the wholesaler has still had to pay to ship the goods to you. Other companies structure delivery into the price you are paying on the goods at source. At least seeing what you are paying for delivery is more transparent! you don't know what other wholesalers are loading onto the price of what your buying to cover delivery. kastanza
we should pay the price glenway pay the delivery company not be overcharged.. Dont get me wrong, i know where you are coming from, but the delivery companies dont actually order pick and wrap the parcels, they only transport them, so this service has to be included in the bill someplace.... i send hundreds of parcels out every week, and i can tell you that tape, jiffy envelopes, bubble wrap, boxes etc aint that cheap and have to be factored into costs. Only a tiny part of my business is trophy related and to be honest i still cant believe how cheap trophies are compared to the the other items i deal in and make less on, so i take the carriage charges on the chin. Perhaps on larger orders there should be a carriage deal, maybe one fee regardless of quantity, that might encourage companies to pack more into one box. discodave
so surely all these companies packing the boxes should be regulated by us as customers!! all we would have to do is find out the sizes and prices that the delivery companies use and charge, then the suppliers would have to use the maximum sized box that the courier company will take we should be allowed to tell the suppliers that they have to use these boxes how can they tell you black is white when you know they are just being lazy, a quick phone call to the director would hopefully cure this problem. the trouble i had with shoestring when they would send me their shredded paper absolutely done my nut in, pay em about 500 a month thinking im getting laces only to get a 3 1/4 of a box full of shredded paper thanks caroline but they did pack their boxes fairly well other than that small problem. Lee
I think a lot of the major players have contracts with parcel companies, which is X amount per box, regardless of size, then as the weight of the consignment increases so to does the price. But i'm not sure! A lot of the bigger wholesalers aren't just having a few boxes going out at anyone time, but lorry/van loads. I'm not making excuses for them I want lower delivery prices like all of us but its a BIG operation getting all these orders out to us on time. discodave
but its a BIG operation getting all these orders out to us on time lol: no its not look its just boxes customer comes into shop and orders an item that comes in a box a trophy lets say, salesman then phones order thru for small trophy or lots of trophies which come in a small box (and from hereon in trophy will now be known as the small box) company who are holding small boxes receive an order, the order is then passed onto a person lets call him box, (sorry girls box in dutch is dozer i think, and thats quite derogatory to the dutch women i believe), who is charged with picking said small box off of shelving which has lots of small boxes on, so box then gets a small box off a shelf, box then puts small box into bigger box applies tape and address phones courier company who then pay someone to take larger box with wheels, to the larger box without wheels which contains the small box which needs to be taken to awaiting customer, these boxes with wheels are then taken to a central sorting office (a really big box where the boxes with wheels on empty the larger boxes without wheels that contain the small boxes where they are transfered into other boxes with wheels who are already going to the same area that all the other small boxes in bigger boxes without wheels are being distributed to
