jewellers brass/ gravometall (how to varnish)

Recommended Posts

Hullo
I've  recently started using the pre-lacquered brass plates then applying blacking fluid (my new laser engraver makes quick work of them compared to deeply engraving with the is200)

I see the spec sheet says it's for indoor use, unless you add a varnish after engraving. (gravometall from MrFixIt)

What product and process would you reccomend for this? I tried a jar of Rustins Metal Lacquer on a big plaque I was doing and the finish (brushed) was horrid, so I used thinners to get it off before it cured.
What's the better option? How necessary do you think it is to add more lacquer after blacking the letters?

Cheers
