amc1980
Hello, I'm looking for some advice with regards to engraving machines. I run a successful website selling Zippo lighters and we are constantly receiving enquiries for engraved lighters. At the moment  engraving isn't something we offer, however the time has come where it would be a worthwhile investment. So.. I am looking for a computerised engraving machine (2nd hand) - but as I am new to engraving, I am not sure which type of engraving machine to go for. I have seen the Metaza impact printers, but have been told that these aren't great and I'm aware that there are different methods of engraving like co2 laser etc.. I did see a Suregrave Wizard on eBay for £1500, but didnt buy in case it wasn't the right type of engraver for Zippo lighters. Can someone point me in the right direction and suggest the best type of engraving for Zippo lighters? Plus if possible a good make and model? Even better if there is one for sale anywhere. I want to make sure I get something which will produce good results and last, so I don't have to upgrade later.. But doesn't cost the earth.. If it can do curved surfaces like hip flasks too - that would be a bonus.. I have seem plenty of imported co2 laser engravers on eBay, but not sure if these are any good and whether this method produces good results. Thanks in advance.. AMC
ANDY
a laser would be a bit extreme for zippos and hip flasks, a co2 laser would need every metal item to be coated in cermark before engraving, a yag laser would mark without cermark but they are expensive an IS200 from gravograph would be a good machine to start out with there is also the option to upgrade this machine so it will do tankards, glasses, cups, bowls etc
