TSR
Hi everyone hope your all nice and busy. I was wondering does anyone know the correct procedures for using the Tek 10 primer (primer for PVC & PUR) and also the procedure for Tek number 1 (Thinner for contact adhesive) I have been using the Tek 2020 plastic adhesive for PVC and ladies heels on plastic heel blocks and Tek 950 contact adhesive for leather and rubber soles/heels etc. Does anyone else use these glues and rate them as I see that they are made by Renia ! I seem to be struggling on clarks ladies soles which I think are TR. I was wondering what the procedure is with the primers on this type of material ! Any help or advice would be appreicated. Kind Regards
St.Am92
I've used the tek 950 and it's the same as renia superfix . Not tried the 20/20 though. For tr, prime with rehagol primer ,leave for 15 minutes then coat with adhesive. I use 50/50 for this. I haven't come across anything which has failed to bond using these two for tr. Hope this helps. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
The rules for all materials to be cemented are that the material first has to be identified correctly, tis very difficult to differentiate between Thermoplastic Rubber, PolyUrethane and Thermoplastic PolyUrethane. From memory (long long ago) this can be done by a colour of smoke/flame test, only then can the correct adhesive be chosen. Then of course the adhesive has to be used correctly and with the recommended Primer/Wipe/Solvent.
