jkilner
Hi Everyone I run a small business making handmade miniature room boxes from solid oak I wish to engrave my company logo (an oak tree) into parts of the buliding I purchased an old but good IN2 to get me started and have successfully developed an engraving pattern and suitable cutters to engrave into the oak. Once engraved and varnished it looks really professional My problems are as follows: 1) My In2 will only reduce and the scale (starts at 2.5:1) and ideally I would like to have more flexibility starting from 1:1to use standard avalable stencils 2) The in2 cannot accomodate the thickness or size of my components (a 2" x 2" oak turned post and small oak ply sheets ) 3) I would like more lines for text (although I can make a new holder my self Mainly my problem is that the in2 is too small Can anyone recommend an ingraver that will handle 1:1 and accept larger materials in the vice area Thanks in advance John
derek
possibly a Taylor Hobson engraving machine is what you are looking for? i don't know much about those machines but they are always available on ebay, or if your budget will stretch to it, you might be better with a computerised engraver
ANDY
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANK-TAYLOR-H ... 4ab1cca13f these machines are very versatile, for a few hundred quid they are worth the money for the kind of work you are looking at as you can see from the photo it has a massive drop to it, so you can engrave deep items the ratios start from 1 to 1, also you can get bigger copy holders for these too if you search about as the bed size is big too, you can make your own templates quite easily the only down side is they weigh a tonne
